31 PVK Blog Post.
This is the English version of a complaint I had submitted to the SHO, Mangalapuram Police Station when I was assaulted by a CPM rouge named Jayaprakash or JP who was continuing as Secretary of the Memorial five months after the managing committee’s term was over. I stepped in to the Memorial, a place I avoid, to ask this thug what right he had to continue to act as secretary. He held me by the throat, dragged me out of the room and pushed me out of the building.
The incident occurred on 30/Dec/2025. I filed this complaint on the 1/01/2026. No action has been taken so far.
I am confident that, now that Saji Cherian, another thug businessman and JP’s patron, is out of the government action will follow soon.
Here is the complaint, in its English version. The Malayalam version, created with the help of a friend’s student, Harishna, was attached to the complaint. An English version is necessary, since this matter might reach the High Court some day.

Dear Sir,
I am P. Vijaya Kumar, residing at the address shown above.
I am the grandson of Mahakavi Kumaran Asan, and the son of K. Prabhakaran, the Mahakavi’s younger son. I have about 2 ½ acres of land I inherited from my father, land that was originally purchased by Asan in 1921.
I occasionally visit my compound to take care of the farm I have there, looking after some pepper, ginger, rubber and some rare native species trees which I collect.
I was assaulted today by the Secretary of the Asan Smarakam, Thonnakkal.
This, in brief, is what happened.
On 30/12/2025, Tuesday, I visited the Asan Memorial. I have been doing this with some
frequency although I know that I am not welcome there. I always buy an entrance ticket, as ordinary citizens do, since it is a government institute. Today there was no sales person at the counter. When I rang up the Memorial’s number, the secretary, one Jayaprakash, answered. He said there was no need for tickets since entry to the Smarakam was free on account of the pilgrimage to Varkala. So I told him I wanted to meet him too. He told me he was in his office.
This call was made at 4.09 p.m from my cell phone to the Memorial’s landline.
When I met the secretary at his office, he asked me who I was and what I wanted. I told him I was P. Vijaya Kumar, son of K Prabhakaran and grandson of Kumaran Asan.
I asked him what he was doing in the office of the secretary, since I was under the impression that the Managing Committee’s term had expired on July 22, 2025. He said there was a new committee and that since I was not a member of that committee I had not been informed.
There is a condition in the document that was signed by my father and the Government of Kerala, that a member of the family should always be a member of the Committee. (I can produce a copy of this soon. It is in English and the stipulation is quite clear and

At one point he jumped up and held me by the throat.
At this point I shouted as loudly as I could that I was being assaulted.
People gathered and among those was one man who recognised me. He is Vimal Kumar aka Vimal Kumar and I talked calmly for some 20 minutes after this. He wanted me to “forget it”
I am seventy years old and have taught at various government and private institutions since. The only place in the world where I have had to face verbal assaults and now a physical one in the Asan Memorial at Thonnakkal.
And I am really fed up with this situation.
I will not be visiting the Memorial till I am sure I can walk in with dignity, buy a ticket, and walk around at my leisure.
I would like this man to be removed from the post.
Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,
With humility and hope,
(Signed)

Note: Although an FIR and a case was registered nothing has happened to date.
This is partly because Jayaprakash, the rogue ‘Secretary’, was the blue eyed boy of Saji Cherian, minister for culture under the Pinarayi government. Two thugs and a rogue make a powerful trio.
I hope that some action will be taken by the new ministry headed by a politician of unquestionable integrity Mr V. D. Satheesan. One of these days, I might try to meet Mr Viswanath, Minister of Culture in the new ministry.
I might not take the trouble, because I am focussed on setting up a private museum to Kumaran Asan. It might be some two years away, but it is my dream project. Rather one of my dream project. The other one is setting up a bio park and museum of native trees and shrubs and creepers near Koliyakode, where I have over three acres of land I inherited from my father.
